CAUTION HOMEOWNERS!
The state of Michigan requires all roofing contractors to be licensed; and there are many reputable roofing contractors. Just because the contractor has a license, does not guarantee that he will complete all of his work properly. Are you aware that putting your complete trust in even a licensed roofing contractor could possibly result in the quality workmanship as seen in the examples below?
WE'VE GOT YOU COVERED
Incomplete Chimney Flashing
Completely Backwards Valley Installation
INCOMPLETE CHIMNEY FLASHING
For several years before the leak was noticeable on the ceiling, the homeowner was unaware of the poor flashing job shown here. By then, the homeowner was unable to locate the contractor to repair the damage.
COMPLETELY BACKWARDS VALLEY INSTALLATION
This application causes the trapping of water under the backwards flap of shingles and causes rotting of the valley.
Incomplete Flashing on Second Roof layer
Exposed nails and no flashing
INCOMPLETE FLASHING ON SECOND ROOF LAYER
These haphazardly installed step flashing, on the outside of the original counter flash, are lacking their own counter flash. The result is trapped water between the old and new layer of shingles, causing the roof sheathing to rot.
EXPOSED NAILS AND NO COUNTER FLASHING
Since no flashing was installed water will leak in at the wall every time it rains.
The state of Michigan would require that each of the examples above be repaired.
I have been a licensed roofing contractor in the state of Michigan for over 20 years. I have been called upon repeatedly to fix roofing problems, and in many cases represent homeowners in litigation against a faulty contractor. The state of Michigan is allowing me to help protect homeowners by inspecting their homes to ensure that their new roof is put on according to the state of Michigan's specifications.
This video shows why your contractor should nail double-laminate shingles in the preferred double-laminate area by singing form 2 prior to your roof installation.
I offer two types of services:
Form 1

Use this form if your roof has already been installed

For $30, I will inspect your roof for inferior workmanship which would cause your roof to fail. (Payable upon arrival prior to inspection)

If your job fails to the extent that the state of Michigan would require repairs, I will document the failure(s), and a full report will be provided including pictures for a fee of: $595.
Form 2

Use this form if your roof has not yet been installed
